The Good Soil Theatre Company is a semi-professional theater collective located in Cleveland, Tennessee. Founded in 2024 by Executive Director Emma Witz, the non-profit organization is dedicated to creating paid performance opportunities for local artists and expanding the theatrical scene throughout Bradley County.
🎠The Concept: Immersive & Mobile Theater
Unlike traditional production companies, Good Soil does not operate out of a fixed theater building. Instead, they focus on transforming unique, forgotten, or non-traditional community spaces across East Tennessee into dynamic pop-up stages.
• Community Impact: By staging shows in local venues, they bring foot traffic to small businesses and cross-promote local establishments. Past production sites include locations like the Gentry Homestead in nearby McDonald, TN.
• Leadership Team: The company is run by Executive Director Emma Witz, Technical Director Laura Harris Hicks, and Creative Director Lizzie Dusenberry Johnson. They operate under the fiscal sponsorship of the Arts & Business Council of Greater Nashville.
