No one would have truly believed, in the early years of the 20th century, that our world was being watched by intelligences greater than our own. As we busied ourselves, they were scrutinizing and studying us, as precisely as a scientist with a microscope might study the tiny bacteria that swarm and multiply in a drop of water. With infinite complacency mankind went about our petty concerns, confident in our empire over this small, spinning fragment of cosmic driftwood, which, by chance or design, man has inherited out of the dark mystery of time and space. Meanwhile, across the dark gulf of the universe, intellects vast and cool and unsympathetic looked down on our planet with envious eyes. And slowly, and surely, they drew their plans against us.

This faithful, fast-moving stage adaptation of the classic film features fluid scene changes, reasonable set requirements, and scores of beefy roles, particularly for women. It’s not only a joyful Christmas tale — it’s the gorgeous love story of George and Mary Bailey, a vivid portrait of the Greatest Generation, a descent into the darkest hour of a man trapped by circumstance, and a powerful meditation on what makes a meaningful life.

Based on Playboy of the Western World. To an untidy little country saloon on a wild coast of Mayo, in Ireland, there comes a shy, frightened youth, Christy Mayo, with a tale of having killed his cruel father, with a single blow of a spade, a week ago on a distant farm. He is fleeing the police, and is accepted by Michael James, the publican, and his pretty but tart-tongued daughter, Pegeen, as a hero whom it would be well to hire as pot-boy.

A Few Good Men @ Mars Theater | LaFayette | Georgia | United States

“A Few Good Men” details the courtroom drama of two Marines charged with the murder of a fellow Marine and the tense legal tribulations that follow. A callow young Navy lawyer serves as the focus of the story. He is more interested in softball cases and expects a plea bargain. Prodded by a female member of his defense team, the lawyer eventually makes a valiant effort to defend his clients and, in so doing, puts the military mentality and the Marine code of honor on trial.
